Rutherglen Academy Pictures
Autumn 1969
Another picture of some boys playing footy in the front playground. Jim ‘Jeeves’ Smith is far left in the foreground, (beige duffel coat), while the lad in the top right hand corner is almost certainly Murray Thomson.
David Smith, making his weary way up Stonelaw Road, probably at lunchtime, returning from morning lessons at the McDonald Annexe in King Street. David (1G) also lived in Carmunnock at this time.
A view west along Rutherglen Main Street from the cross. Not many cars about, eh?
Broadly the same as the above but shot from a different angle. Again, notice the paucity of vehicular traffic compared to these days. Amazing, isn’t it?
The friendly warden who regularly saw us across the road on our way to and from the McDonald Annexe in King Street. Notice also, waiting at the crossing,  beside what is now Rutherglen Shopping Centre, a Ford Corsair.

A Carmunnock View
Carmunnock. In the distance Tait’s Filling Station, with Jim’s bike in the foreground.
